Commanders Corner Hello to you all. I have had some medical issues and am in good spirits and good health. By now you’ve all heard of my situation, I am able and ready to perform my duties as your Commander with the capeable assistance of the officers of the 550 Legion. All please be safe and put legion before your own wishes in my absence. I will return in the month of May for our meeting God willing.
Yountville
Yountville is still having some minor problems with deliveries to their Campus. I contacted staff
again, this week and have not received a reply on getting items we have stored;up to our Eisenhower
Building. We are hoping this problem is resolved soon. With summer around the corner and warmer
weather we were hoping to be able to join our Veterans for lunch or picnics. We have some units in
erest d
in having pen pals with our veterans. Staff is looking into this suggestion; Staff thought this was
a wonderful idea. So many in the Yountville Annex's have no family to visit them, so this is again
a wonderful way to relieve the loneness some must endure. A few of our Auxiliary Ladies have been
joining the Napa #113 unit for Sunday breakfasts. It is very nice to make new friends and see what
other units are doing. Napa on the 3ʳᵈ Sunday of every month also has Dixieland Jazz Music. Some of
our Vallejo Auxiliary members have also been enjoying these. They are without a doubt fun,
entertaining on a Sunday afternoon enjoying a selection of really good jazz music. Along with
music, breakfast's, the ladies are also doing a Hi-tea on April 13ᵗʰ. come participate and enjoy.
We now have (9) already signed up. At our Vallejo Unit our Auxiliary has
been very active with fundraisers for our Veterans needs. See's candy this year has been very
profitable, as also our Veterans Eagle T-Shirts. We will again be making Christmas stockings and
stuffing them with lots of needy items for children and adults.
This year they will be for the Fisher House Veteran families in attendance.

Auxilary President
As you all well know, we are in the fourth month of the New Year!
With these four months almost over we have enjoyed celebrating New Year's Day, Valentines Day, St Patrick's Day and the Easter Holidays. April has certainly brought us into Spring with rain and sunshine.
The Ladies of ALA Unit 550 have been exploring new avenues to become involved with. One endeavor we hope will work out for us is the Stand Down Program. So far we have collected countless needed items plus the proper plastic zip bags to carry the items in.
The VFW representative, Ray Hart, has invited the 550 Unit to set up a sales area for our Mrs Sees Candies, jewelry items, t-shirts, etc. We have these things available at their monthly Monday dinner meetings. To date we attended two of the meetings and both were a great success.
Several of the Ladies have attended the Napa 113 Unit first Sunday of the month breakfasts! Please feel free to join us next month. Breakfast starts at 9:00am.
Several of the Ladies attended the District 5 meeting in Cloverdale.
We all need to pull together and interact with each organization that meets at the American Legion Building. This will help us all in the long run to grow and succeed in our endeavors.
I will close with an old Celtic poem:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
the rain fall rest upon your fields and until
we meet again, may GOD hold you in the
palm of HIS hand.
KITTIE COX, President ALA Unit 550
Legion News
This is the regiment a new way to get new and younger members into the American Legion. I have known about this avenue for a couple of years and it was brought up by Jack Schipper of the district membership committee from the last District meeting in which Commander Clemente attended. Bob Mattson was also, involved in the meeting the link below is where to find out more information about this project its involvement with the legion and how it can and will bring a younger generation to our Post and the Legion itself. It is a thriving adventure and many members of the legion are successfully involved in this new adventure. Please click the link below.
